My Story

TERN came from a simple idea – to create an amazing travel product that makes a difference in people’s lives. I asked a simple question – what’s missing from an ordinary weekend bag? What I found was that most people were forced to sacrifice either cost or quality. I wanted to fix that. My goal was to create a new kind of bag made from high quality, sustainable wool, at an affordable price. TERN was designed to help you travel further, more efficiently, and with some serious class.

TERN is inspired by the Arctic Tern, a seabird with the longest migration pattern of any airborne species in the entire world. Seeing more daylight than any bird annually, it spends a lifetime in perpetual summer. These beautiful, restless, and resilient birds are on a never-ending journey – a journey that embodies my vision for an amazing travel product that gives back to a cause I care deeply about – the journey to recovery.

Nearly half of all Americans have lost a family member or friend to addiction. Addiction is not a moral failing. It is a disease that needs our help, dedication, and support. Having personally lost loved ones to addiction, I’ve found that those struggling are highly driven, motivated people, consumed by a revolving cycle of success and failure.

At TERN, we believe that broadening your horizons through travel can improve overall mental and physical health. That’s why I’m dedicating a portion of all proceeds from every TERN product sold to Shatterproof, a national nonprofit organization whose mission is to reverse the addiction crisis in the US.
